The Youth Leadership Forum is back in person this year at NC State University!

Spring is here and planning for our Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) has begun! This year, our forum is back in person (woo-hoo!) and will be held at NC State University from July 16 - 19.

In case you are unfamiliar with the program or need a quick refresher, the YLF is an event for youth and young adults with disabilities  ages 15-30. It is a 3 day long opportunity to encourage youth to practice advocacy in their lives, whether individually or in the community.  This experience is aimed at empowering, skill strengthening, and evolving the future generation of disability rights leaders. NCYLF builds young leaders while enabling them to experience independence and find their voice as advocates through fun and engaging activities.

We are looking for members to be on the 2023 YLF Planning Committee. No special event planning experience needed, just a willingness to share your thoughts and ideas!

The YLF Planning Committee is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the YLF. We are also responsible for selecting 15 to 20 youth with disabilities between the ages of 15 and 30 to participate in the YLF.

Tasks will include, but are not limited to, approving delegate applications, reviewing and working on marketing items, brainstorming fun and engaging activities for the event agenda, arranging accommodations for participants who need them, and working on other event logistics. You will need to attend a monthly virtual meeting with other committee members to check in and collaborate. There will be some things to work on in between meetings for those who are able to volunteer for them!

If you are interested, please fill out this quick form by Friday, March 17.

This page on our website has a great video of one of our YLFs in the past.

Thank you so much again and let us know if you have any questions!
